SWEEPING THE NATION!

By Erin 'Gigglechick' Bennett

I didn’t sin in Sin City (I promise.) We got on the road at around 9am and headed up to Salt Lake City.

My cohorts and I were lead by Beth and her tricked out BATBRAT (She’s a member of the Southern California Mini Maniacs). There were 4 cars in our MINI Pack.

I was the Sweeper (the title for the person who “clears the way” for folks when there’s a lane change. I quite liked feeling like I was herding my dogies.)

Now, I’ve heard from friends about how Utah is beautiful. But, my goodness! That’s an understatement! When you combine the rock formations, mountains, blue sky, plump & puffy clouds and MINIs, it’s really quite heavenly...

and then there were the rocks & canyons...

Between Vegas and SLC, we stopped off to have our MINIs gussied up by the Cedar City High School Dance Team --- who was also having a Bake Sale

Beth’s BATBRAT about to get the Cedar City treatment!

While waiting for them to scrub the Utah bugs off the windshields, we were able to go down their waterslide. Yes. Cedar City has its own waterslide!

and it also has its own landlocked lighthouse...

Once we arrived in Salt Lake City, we headed over to the MINI of Murray dealership where there were festivities... including a double decker bus (not so MINI)

They also had extremely mini MINIs... *sigh*

While at the MINI of Murray shindig, I bought one of the shirts that their very own Tony Poulson designed (and signed for me!)

It’s a MINI encased in a green Jell-O cube. Why Jell-O? In case you don’t know, Salt Lake City consumes the most Jell-O in the world (really. Now you can win at trivia with that tidbit.)

I have to get up at 4:30am on Wednesday because we’re heading out of SLC and driving on the Bonneville Salt Flats!!!! Huzzah!!! (I will be on high octane caffeine from the local coffee shop... and Moocher is on the V-Power right now.)
