MINI USA AND THE MINI JOHN COOPER WORKS RACE TEAM HEAD TO WATKINS GLEN AFTER TWO PODIUM FINISHES AT VIR

Woodcliff Lake, NJ,  July 21, 2022. MINI USA and the MINI John Cooper Works Team head into another exciting race weekend at Watkins Glen International in Watkins Glen, N.Y., for the fourth race weekend in the 2022 SRO TC America series. In the last race, the Brownsburg, Ind. -based LAP Motorsports team, which operates the MINI JCW Team, battled a competitive field to bring home two third place finishes at Virginia International Raceway.

This weekend Clay Williams will pilot the #60 MINI JCW Pro continuing to battle for the top spot in the Touring Car (TC) class alongside teammates Cristian Perocarpi in #61 MINI JCW and PJ Groenke in #62 MINI JCW in the Touring Car A (TCA) class.

“We had a really great weekend at VIR and look forward to bringing that momentum to this historic track,” said Luis Perocarpi, team owner, LAP Motorsports. “We have had many successful runs here at The Glen and I have no doubt our talented team and expert MINI dealer technicians will be competitive this weekend.”

MINI USA will have three qualified MINI Dealer technicians this weekend, working alongside the LAP Motorsports team during practice, qualifying and race days as part of the MINI Technician Race Crew Program. The three dealer technicians are from dealers in the Eastern Region, including one from Towne MINI in Williamsville, NY, one from MINI of Rochester, NY, and one from MINI of Bedford, in New Hampshire. Each of them will support the team for the entire weekend at Watkins Glen. The race team relies on the skill and knowledge of the technicians that work, day to day on MINI, to bring that expertise to the track.
