MINI USA AND THE MINI JOHN COOPER WORKS RACE TEAM HEAD TO SEBRING INTERNATIONAL RACEWAY AFTER A FOUR-PODIUM WEEKEND AT ROAD AMERICA 

Woodcliff Lake, NJ,  September 22, 2023. MINI USA and the MINI John Cooper Works Team head into the penultimate race of the 2023 SRO TC America at Sebring International Raceway in Sebring, Fla., looking to ride the momentum of the four-podium weekend last month at Road America.

Clay Williams, who had a dominant win driving the #60 MINI JCW PRO at Road America last month, will look to capitalize on his two-podium weekend last year at Sebring. Williams will be once again joined by teammate Cristian Perocarpi, who saw the podium twice at Road America last month, in the #37 MINI JCW PRO. Clay Williams is the current leader in the Driver’s Championship in the TC class, with Perocari running fourth. MINI USA also leads the manufacturer’s championship in the series.

“The team is very focused heading into the last two race weekends of the season,“ said Luis Perocarpi, team owner, LAP Motorsports. “We look forward to continuing to show the competition why MINI and this team are a force to be reckoned with at the track every weekend.”

The Brownsburg, Ind. -based LAP Motorsports team, which operates the MINI JCW Team, will be supported this weekend by four qualified MINI Dealer technicians, working alongside the team during practice, qualifying and race days as part of the MINI Technician Race Crew Program. The four technicians are from dealers across the U.S., including MINI of Tucson, MINI of Orlando and MINI of Dallas. The technicians will support the team for the entire weekend at Sebring. The race team relies on the skill and knowledge of the technicians that work, day to day on MINI, to bring that expertise to the track.

The team finished last season as the runner up for the Manufacturer’s Championship in both the Touring Car (TC) and Touring Car A (TCA) classes. Clay Williams, driver of the #60 MINI JCW Pro, also finished the 2022 season in 2nd place in the Driver’s Championship in the TC class.
 
The 2023 SRO TC America series championship is scheduled for October 5 – 8 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
