MINI USA AND THE MINI JOHN COOPER WORKS RACE TEAM TO RUN FIVE CARS AT SEBRING FOLLOWING SWEEP AT ROAD AMERICA

Team adds two more cars to the field of the TCA class of TC America series

Woodcliff Lake, NJ,  September 23, 2022. For the first time, MINI USA and the MINI John Cooper Works Team will run five MINI race cars at Sebring International Raceway for the sixth race weekend of the 2022 SRO TC America series. Team regulars Clay Williams, Cristian Perocarpi and PJ Goenke will be joined by MINI Canada’s Alain Lauziere and MINI JCW team owner Luis Perocarpi, who will get behind the wheel of a LAP Motorsports MINI JCW race car for the first time since the 2019 season at Watkins Glen International. The team heads to the central Florida track after capturing four first places finishes and one second place finish at Road America last month.

The Brownsburg, Ind. -based LAP Motorsports team, which operates the MINI JCW Team, has been busy the past few weeks, completing the rebuild of a MINI JCW team car that was badly damaged at Virginia International Raceway last season just a few days ago. The team also picked up another MINI JCW race car damaged in a race last season at BMW Plant Spartanburg on the way from the team’s headquarters in Indianapolis to Sebring this week. The vehicle was completely rebuilt by MINI service technicians training in the collision center at BMW University Group training center.

“We are excited to put five race-ready cars in the field at Sebring to show the rest of the competition what these MINIs can do on the track,” said Luis Perocarpi, team owner, LAP Motorsports. “We can’t thank the team back at the LAP shop and the MINI technicians in training in Spartanburg for their support getting these cars ready for action this weekend. It’s going to be an action-packed weekend.”

Clay Williams will pilot the #60 MINI JCW Pro in the Touring Car (TC) class this weekend alongside regular teammates Cristian Perocarpi in the #61 MINI JCW and PJ Groenke in the #62 MINI JCW in the Touring Car A (TCA) class. Alain Lauziere will pilot the #63 MINI JCW and Luis Perocarpi will take the wheel of the #64 MINI JCW, both also competing in the TCA class.

The MINI John Cooper Works race team has been showing their strenght and talent throughout the season heading in to the last race weekend before the championship. Clay Williams piloted the #60 MINI JCW to two podium finishes in the season opener at Sonoma and a win at NOLA Motorsports Park. The team also took two podiums at VIR, two wins at Watkins Glen and a full sweep of both TC and TCA classes at Road America.
