It’s hot, hot, hot…as MINI Motorers gather in The City by the Bay

Hundreds of MINI Motorers arriving today in San Francisco ahead of the start of MINI TAKES THE
STATES 2014, an epic 5,200-mile cross-country journey, were greeted by unusually hot weather and
beautiful blue skies.

More than 350 MINI owners who are ‘going all the way’ across the USA driving through 18 states
and 15 cities in the next two weeks in a unique trans-continental motoring experience began
gathering in the Californian city today (Saturday 26 July). They will be joined by several hundred
more owners and friends from the MINI community in California, prior to the kick-off of the
marathon drive from Golden Gate Fields tomorrow (Sunday 27 July).

Over the coming 14 days, more than 2,700 people will take part in the fifth MINI TAKES THE STATES.
Reflecting the pet-friendly nature of MINI owners, the total includes over 100 dogs, six cats, one bird
and several other assorted animal friends who have been registered as co-pilots for the journey.

A minimum of 750 Motorers will participate in each day’s activities and several stops on this
exceptional road rally will attract over 1100.

As San Francisco experienced this MINI invasion, many participants couldn’t resist the opportunity to
capture images of their MINIS at some of the city’s many well-known attractions, such as the Golden
Gate Bridge and the steep twists and turns of the iconic Lombard Street.
