Tony Hawk surprises MINI community at MTTS 2014 Kick-off evening

 

MINI Motorers preparing for the start of MINI TAKES THE STATES 2014 were treated to a surprise visit from skateboarding legend Tony Hawk at the pre-event evening kick-off party in San Francisco last night (Saturday 26 July).

Tony Hawk dropped by the party, at MINI of San Francisco, as he made final preparations for a thrilling MINI-inspired skateboarding stunt to mark the start of the first leg of the 5,200-mile coast-to-coast drive, in front of almost 1,000 MINI owners at Golden Gate Field today (Sunday 27 July).

He was visiting the celebration event to meet with journalists to discuss his recently-announced partnership with MINI USA and MINI becoming the official vehicle of his Birdhouse Skateboards Summer Tour.
 
Many lucky Motorers also had the chance see the legendary skateboarding star up close and to grab autographs and take ‘selfies’ as he mingled with some of the several hundred guests at the party.
 
Speaking of his first chance to meet the MINI community since the announcement of his MINI partnership, he said: “It’s an amazing atmosphere here tonight. I can really feel the excitement building.”
 
“There are so many similarities between skateboarding culture and MINI community – they are about self-expression, design and individuality,” said Tony, who purchased his own MINI Countryman last November, “I’m really proud of this partnership and the creative ways we are working together.”
