Almost 800 miles covered – just 4,400 to go!

MINI Motorers driving from coast-to-coast across the USA on MINI TAKES THE STATES 2014 started
to rack up some serious miles in their MINIs yesterday (July 28 2014) as they embarked on the
longest individual leg of the epic 14-day rally.

Over 800 owners gathered in Reno, Nevada, before starting a spectacular drive along US50, known
as “America’s Loneliest Highway”, crossing into Utah for an overnight stop in the city of Wendover.

Route 50 was transformed for the day into the ‘Busiest MINI Road in America’ as owners filled the
normally-deserted roads and ate up the miles as they crossed the stark and beautiful Great Nevada
Basin, which is dominated by desert valleys and many mountain ranges.

Much of this historic route passes over a historic corridor, first used by the Pony Express, and it
provided many memorable photo opportunities for the MINI Motorers. One of these was the New
Nevada Shoe Tree, where hundreds of pairs of boots, shoes and sneakers have been thrown into
the tree’s branches by anonymous donors, to create a living, breathing work of collective art.

Next stop: Grand Junction, Colorado.
