MTTS 2014 – the Greatest Way to Celebrate!

When 17-year old MINI fanatic Timothy Triana-Davie was asked how he would like to celebrate his graduation to college, he had no doubt at all what he wanted to do.

Not for him a vacation with his family or a gift of a car from his parents, he just wanted to hit the road and join hundreds of other MINI Motorers driving from San Francisco to Boston in MINI TAKES THE STATES 2014.

Long-time MINI fan Timothy, of San Antonio, Texas, heard about MTTS 2014 through the forum North American Motoring and he decided that a coast-to-coast drive was the only way to celebrate before heading to Arizona State University to study Economics.

Timothy, who is driving his black MINI Countryman, has been joined by his mum Tricia, who hadn’t previously heard of MTTS but is now loving every minute. Speaking of her experiences as a passenger after the Colorado to New Mexico leg of their 5,200-mile journey, she said: “We don’t have roads like that in Texas so I was bit nervous on some of the twists and bends in the mountains today but it really is an amazing experience so far.”

“I wanted to join him on this drive because it’s great opportunity to spend some quality time with my son before he leaves for Arizona,” she added.

After the rally ends in Boston on August 9, Timothy, who studied at the International School of the Americas, knows he’ll have to concentrate on academic matters for a while but he is already planning ahead. “I’ll be at ASU for the next four years but I’m looking forward to my next big MINI celebration and that will be at MINI TAKES THE STATES in 2018!” he said.
