More than 650 MINIs assembled at Atlanta Motor Speedway for MINI TAKES THE STATES 2016, a 4,400-mile cross-country drive through 15 cities and 18 states from Georgia to California.

Around 1,400+ motorers, some 900 of who will be ‘going all the way’ from start to finish, were welcomed to the biennial motoring adventure and waved off by senior executives from the BMW Group, which included Sebastian Mackensen, Global Head of MINI, Peter Schwarzenbauer, Member of the BMW Board of Management in charge of MINI, Thomas Felbermair, VP of MINI of the Americas and Tom Noble, Head of MINI USA Marketing.

The 320-mile first leg of the rally from Atlanta, Georgia, to Charlotte, North Carolina, highlighted the ‘track to track’ theme of MINI TAKES THE STATES 2016, by concluding with a visit to the NASCAR Hall of Fame in Charlotte on the eve of the second day of the rally which will start at the famed Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Before hitting the road for Charlotte, MINI owners participating in this year’s drive were reminded that they would be motoring with purpose this time. Their support of Feeding America, this year’s charity partner, was praised by Rowena Norman, Director of New Partnerships at Feeding America. The target of MTTS 2016 is to provide more than 800,000 meals to families in need with drivers, consumers and others contributing in various ways.

By the time MINI TAKES THE STATES reaches its final destination in Palm Springs, California, in 14 days’ time, more than 4,000 motorers will have taken part in the marathon rally.
