MOTORERS ENJOY A TASTE OF NASCAR RACING IN CHARLOTTE

MOTORERS ENJOY A TASTE OF NASCAR RACING IN CHARLOTTE Hundreds of MINI owners had a taste of what it feels like to drive a lap around one of NASCAR racing’s most celebrated race tracks today… and they loved it!

As the participants in MINI TAKES THE STATES 2016 started their engines at Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, North Carolina, and began the second leg of the 4,400-mile cross-country rally, they were allowed to drive their MINIs around the famous 1.5-mile oval track.

The lap of the quad oval by the delighted, would-be NASCAR racers then concluded in style as they were given a full police escort from the race circuit all the way to the Cabarrus County line where they began a 255-mile, six-hour drive to Richmond, Virginia. Eight motorcycle riders and four cruisers from the Cabarrus County police force ensured that the motorers had the smoothest possible start to the latest leg of the epic 14-day motoring adventure.

The huge cavalcade of MINIs made a massive visual impact as the escorted convoy stretched for miles along the roads of Concord as it headed north for the next stop on the journey to Palm Springs, California.

The MINI brand’s motorsport heritage is being celebrated all the way to California with a “track to track” theme, making several stops at professional race tracks along the way. Next up is Richmond International Raceway, a unique, three-quarter mile, D-shaped oval circuit is where motorers will gather for the start of a 238-mile drive to Baltimore, Maryland.
