Is that Mr Bean on MTTS 2016?

Adding to the record number of MINIs that have been registered to take part in MINI TAKES THE STATES 2016 is a group of what must also be a record number of classic Minis.

One of the most eye-catching – and familiar – is the 1980 Citron yellow MINI driven by Alex Nelson of Williamsburg, Virginia.

Not only is Alex’s Mini a right hand drive version but it is an almost replica copy of one of the Minis driven by actor Rowan Atkinson in his TV comedy, ‘Mr Bean’.

After discovering the car for sale in the UK, he couldn’t resist buying it before shipping it back to the USA at the end of his military service when he was stationed at the RAF Croughton communications base in England.

“I have been obsessed with MINI since I was nine years old when I first saw an episode of Mr Bean,” said Alex, as he prepared to drive on day three of MTTS 2016 from Richmond, Virginia, to Baltimore, Maryland, “When I saw this Mini, I just had to buy it and bring it back home with me.”
