Defying hunger with a signature

Motorers taking part in MINI TAKES THE STATES 2016 have enthusiastically and eagerly embraced the challenge to defy hunger by devising a host of ingenious ways to raise money during the 14-day motoring adventure.

None more so than Matthew Davis, of Columbus, Georgia, whose imaginative fund-raising scheme saw him collect over $1,700 in a single day for the charity partner of the cross-country driving adventure, Feeding America.

Matthew is inviting people to sign his blue MINI Countryman in return for a donation to Feeding America, which is aiming, in partnership with MTTS 2016, to provide more than 800,000 meals to families in need.

On day four of the rally, as it passed between Baltimore, Maryland, and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Matthew told MINIUSANEWS.com that the total amount he has raised so far is in excess of $3,000, well on the way to the $5,000 target he set himself.

Matthew, who is driving all the way from Atlanta, Georgia, to Palm Springs, California, through 15 cities in 19 states, also revealed that the pearl blue paint finish of his Countryman isn’t all it seems.

“Before we set off, the car was painted with four gallons of Plasti Dip which is a removable rubberised paint,” he said, “Eventually, we will just peel it off and it will be returned to its original white paint finish.”
