MINI TAKES THE STATES 2016 ROLLS INTO MOTOR CITY

Motorers on MINI TAKES THE STATES 2016 were able to fully experience the agile driving properties and go kart feeling of their vehicles as the cross-country motoring adventure left Pittsburgh, PA, and headed for the Motor City of Detroit.

The 326-mile fifth leg of the 4,400-mile rally began from the Meadows Racetrack and Casino, in Washington, PA, and took in some exhilarating back roads and byways through northern Pennsylvania, Ohio and Michigan.

A rest break in the rally brought a slower pace of life in the quaint community of Lisbon, OH, a town known as the home and birthplace of the modern drinking straw. Residents of Lisbon and members of the charming village’s Historical Society turned out in numbers to welcome MTTS 2016 to their village, which was founded in 1802.

The day’s drive concluded with an evening gathering for motorers at the renovated Eastern Market in Downtown Detroit, a cultural and commercial landmark in Motor City that was established in 1891.

With a total of almost 1,400 miles driven since MTTS 2016 started in Atlanta, Georgia, the rally now heads to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan before it turns west and heads into the state of Wisconsin.
