YES IT REALLY IS A MINI

Woodcliff Lake, NJ,  July 14, 2016. Justin Du Pont is getting used to hearing people say “what IS that car?” when they meet him on the road in his classic Mini.

Justin, of Kilgore, Texas, recently acquired a 1980 MINI Clubman Estate that was originally built by British Leyland in the UK. Not only is it a right hand drive version and has a station wagon rear end, but it also has the uncommon, less-rounded Clubman-style front end and it has certainly been turning heads on MINI TAKES THE STATES 2016.

Justin, who has nicknamed his Clubman ‘Buzz’ (“because it rattles and makes lots of noises” he says) drove his Clubman from Texas to Atlanta and is planning to drive all the way to Cheyenne, WY, on the epic rally, accumulating around 4,000 miles on this trip.

“Not many people know what it is and the two most common questions are ‘what is that car?’ and ‘what size are those wheels?’ he said, “I tell them that it really is a Mini and that they are 10-inches in diameter.”

Of his experiences of MTTS 2016, Justin said: “It’s been going really well so far. Buzz is really happy but it was difficult in the early stages of the rally because of the distances, heat and humidity. This car never was fitted with air conditioning!” Justin, who bought Buzz in Kansas City, MO, in March this year added: “I’m driving with modern MINIs which can easily cruise at 75 mph and while Buzz can keep up with them, he isn’t always happy doing it.”

Buzz, who has his own Facebook site (www.facebook.com/BuzzClubman) has a 1275 cc engine and has been treated to higher gearing, upgraded suspension and adjustable shocks.

Should Justin require a change from life on the road with Buzz after MTTS 2016, he has a thoroughly modern 2016 JCW Hardtop waiting for him at home in Texas.
