“WE SIGNED UP FOR MTTS 2016 BEFORE WE EVEN HAD A MINI!”

When Robert and Wendy Olexy decided that they wanted to fulfil their ambition and embark on an American road trip, they had no doubt that MINI TAKES THE STATES 2016 was the only one for them.
 
Shortly after discovering the epic cross-country rally on an internet search, they signed up to join MTTS 2016 and drive from Baltimore, MD, to Palm Springs, CA.
 
But with just weeks to go before the start of the 4,400-mile motoring adventure, they realized that they were lacking one essential item for their trip. They didn’t even own a MINI.
 
“We realized that we had signed up for MTTS but we didn’t have a MINI of our own, so just went out and bought one,” said Wendy, of Davidsonville, MD.
 
“We had never even been in a MINI before then and didn’t know if we would like it,” she added, “So we took the cautious approach and bought a used 2011 Cooper S.”
 
They then joined the Central Maryland MINI Motorists club to meet other motorers and find out more about MTTS and they also joined some local rallies to prepare themselves for the big one.
 
“Our first MINI TAKES THE STATES has been one heck of a blast for us and we are really loving our new MINI,” said Robert as they prepared to set off from Green Bay, WI, to St Paul, MN, “Our friends are all really jealous when we tell them how much fun it is.”
 
Robert and Wendy’s MTTS 2016 got off to the best possible start when they joined the rally in Baltimore. Before turning a wheel, they entered the pre-drive Rise and Shine raffle and walked away with a prize of an Echo voice-controlled speaker.
